23rd April: Organisation Design Inspiration Group #3: Methods for Organisation Design, London
A discussion by an expert group of our most recent research, with an excellent introduction to the ‘Wiggly World of Organisations’ by Chris Rodgers, the founder of the ODiN group.
24th April: ODDCoPs, South Coast, Brighton University
A talk from the OrgVue team for the ever thoughtful and challenging practitioners of the south coast. The hands-on environment makes for a practical, well-grounded and insightful discussion. Recommended if you are interested in Organisation Design and are in travelling range of Brighton every 2 months. Contact Pam James if you’d like to attend.
25th – 26th April ODN Europe, Borough Market, London
OrgVue sponsored the Org Design stream and Rupert Morrison spoke on best practices in data gathering, merging, visualisation and analysis. The world of gestalt organisation psychology met the analytical world of OrgVue. Out of this conference has come collaboration with Flow International, a Hungarian-based consulting firm advising international businesses across Europe.
16th – 17th May: Big Data & Organisation Design Conference, Paris Sorbonne
An intense two day conference on the potential – and perils – of big data; the OrgVue team argued that although organisations might look different and be able to respond in new ways, the process of Organisation Design would be essentially unchanged by Big Data.
6th June: The Strategic HR Network’s conference on Enabling HR
Giles Slinger of OrgVue chaired a session in which Dan Herbert of CA Technologies talked through the ambitious plans IT companies have in HR analytics; Fiona Whitworth of Rio Tinto talked about Strategic Workforce Planning in the mining industry.
2-3rd July: Civil Service Live, Olympia
The civil service’s main work-redesign event, focused this year on the impact of Civil Service Reform. Current head of the Civil Service Sir Jeremy Heywood pointed out that Britain faced years of ongoing reform and former minister James Purnell emphasised the practicalities of making change happen – both in the Civil Service and in the BBC. OrgVue’s stand in the ‘Digital by Default’ area was a focus for discussion with civil servants who wanted to visualise their organisations, design their future and analyse the impact of line managers on operational engagement and performance.
12th September: UK Oracle User Group
Giles Slinger will speak at the UK Oracle User group on Organisation Design challenges
13th – 14th September: ‘What makes a 21st Century Leader?’ Conference, Amsterdam
Including a competition to ‘Design the Organisation of the Future’ using OrgVue.
9th October: OrgVue breakfast, Borough Market, venue to be confirmed
