The HR team at Concentra have been getting busy with preparation for the Olympics, and we thought it would be worth sharing their work, in the hope of reducing the effort for other HR departments out there.
First – the headlines: ‘Juggling’ narrowly edged out ‘Nude hopscotch’ and ‘Quantity of Food eaten at Nando’s’ as most popular sport for introduction at the next Olympics. Second, the key message – TFL may just be spreading scare stories, but their forecast impacts at London Tube stations are pretty fierce – more than 30 minutes waiting times for significant parts of the day at the busiest stations. Will people just adapt to this – by switching to other ways of getting from A to B or are we going to see whole families camped on the Northern line platforms, cheerily draping themselves in red white and blue bunting? Will businesses just shut down for weeks at a time? Third, almost half of our team don’t get into the office before 9am! Enjoy!
The method – a lot of checking on TFL and government websites, a lot of screen capturing, and a quick survey of staff to identify expected issues and potential options. The team used the OrgVue application to let them capture people’s responses to a travel survey and visualised the answers in the organisation structure, so that they could identify potential impacts more naturally by area. The Concentra analytics team also came up with this rather cool Tube impact dashboard.
